Summary: 30 undergraduate females helped unravel the mystery of determining how women rate male attractiveness. It appears that it can be explained by simple physical characteristics, especially the waist-chest ratio. Unlike males polled in a similar study, it is the shape not the size (Body mass index scaled to height was found to be the characteristic of choice for female attractiveness to men). The developed upper body or "inverted triangle shape"preferred, suggests that a males physical attractiveness to a female is based cues related to reproductive potential. And these reproductive cues direct mens attraction to females exhibiting a body build (BMI) suggesting optimal health, according to evolutionary psychologists.
Comment: Possible selection bias, but who's surprised? More bad news for us narrow- shouldered men.
